Hanns Schmid, born in 1958 in Switzerland, is a graphic designer, photographer, filmmaker and publisher. After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences, Basel School of Design with a diploma degree as a designer in 1992, he founded his agency Hanns Schmid Grafik Design in 1995. He received several prizes such as an International Prize for Communication Design for his SAAB poster series, which was awarded a Red Dot ‘best of the best’ and nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. Over the years following 2000 he further developed his skills towards film documentary, made a film portrait of the Ziegelei Rapperswil (a brick factory) and a documentary on the city of Sana’a in Yemen. Schmid works in Baden, Switzerland as a graphic designer and publisher.
